Civilian Welfare Resources & Websites for Parents

Sally-Anne McCormack is a clinical psychologist in Melbourne, Australia, and has a wonderful website for parents which is a great resource for various parenting needs (eg. FREE newsletters, FREE articles, Book Reviews, etc).  www.ParentsOnline.com.au

Nicky Johnston is the author & illustrator of 2 children's books and has now developed a Resource Kit to help other children battle their 'worry thoughts'.  Both of Nicky's books are excellent resources for parents, teachers & mental health professionals who are dealing with anxiety in children.

"Go Away, Mr Worrythoughts!" is a colourful book and was inspired by Nicky's son, who suffers from Generalised Anxiety Disorder (GAD).  He is now able to manage his anxiety using strategies that help him live happy and free ~ these books are based on his courageous journey!

"Happythoughts are Everywhere..." is another terrific story by Nicky about a boy who goes in search of his Happythoughts!  Again inspired by her son Bayley, this simple story helps children learn that by changing their thoughts they can change their feelings - a basic Cognitive Behavioural Technique to help children mangage their anxiety ~ a strategy she uses daily!
